Privacy Policy

Nu-Century Audio Visual Production ("we", "us") builds Nu-Century Subtitle Studio Pro (the "App") and the account/billing service it connects to (the "Service"). This page explains what we collect, why, and what we do with it.

The short version: your video and audio files are processed on your own computer and are never uploaded to us — full stop. The only things that ever leave your machine are your account email, a small usage number (how many minutes of video you processed, not the video itself), and — only if you turn on the optional AI features — the text of your subtitle lines, sent to Anthropic (the maker of Claude) to fix typos or translate.

What we collect

Account information: the email address you give us when creating an account. We use it to identify your license and to send you anything related to your account or purchases.
License and usage data: your license key, your subscription tier or credit balance, and a log of what you've used the App for — but only at the level of "extracted subtitles from a 42-minute file" or "used AI translation," never the file itself or its content, unless the optional AI features send subtitle text (see below).
Payment information: handled entirely by Paystack. We never see or store your card number — Paystack passes us only a confirmation that a payment succeeded and its amount.
Subtitle text, only if you use AI Cleanup or AI Translation: these optional, off-by-default features send the text of your subtitle lines (not your video or audio file) to our backend, which forwards it to Anthropic's Claude API to fix typos or translate. If you never turn these on, no subtitle text ever leaves your computer.
Basic technical logs: standard server logs (timestamps, error messages) for keeping the Service running and diagnosing problems.

What we never collect

Your video or audio files themselves — OCR extraction and Whisper transcription both run locally on your computer.
Your card or bank details — Paystack handles that directly.
Anything from the App if you never create an account or never connect to the internet, beyond what's needed for the one-time account creation itself.

How we use what we collect

To create and maintain your account and license.
To process payments and manage subscriptions or credit balances through Paystack.
To meter usage fairly against your plan or balance.
To operate the optional AI features, when you choose to use them.
To respond if you contact us for support.

We do not sell your information to anyone, and we do not use your subtitle text or usage data to train any AI model.

Third parties we work with

Paystack — processes payments. Their own privacy policy governs how they handle your payment details.
Anthropic — processes subtitle text only when you use the optional AI Cleanup or AI Translation features, under Anthropic's own terms for API usage.

How long we keep it

We keep account and usage records for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward for accounting and legal purposes. You can ask us to delete your account and associated data at any time (see Contact below), subject to what we're legally required to retain (for example, payment records).

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal information, including under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023. To exercise any of these, contact us using the details below.

Children's privacy

The Service isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the App or Service after a change means you accept the updated policy.
